Payal Jewellers — since 2001

The house that began with an anklet

Payal is the anklet a girl is given before she is given anything else. We took the name because it is where every Indian jewellery story starts.

Named for the first piece a family ever buys

Our name

Named for the first piece a family ever buys

The payal is rarely the most expensive thing a woman owns. It is almost always the first. That is the standard we hold ourselves to — that the everyday piece deserves the same hand, the same finish and the same honesty as the bridal set.

  • We price in the openMetal, making and stones — itemised before you buy, not after.
  • We make what we sellOur karigars work under our own roof, from first sketch to final polish.
  • We answer, alwaysThe people who sold you the piece will mend it in twenty years.

Our journey

Twenty-five years, one promise

  1. 2001

    A single counter

The family opens one counter, with one rule: quote the making charge before the customer asks.

  2. 2009

    The karigars come in-house

Rather than buy in finished stock, we bring the craftsmen under our own roof — and take responsibility for every join.

  3. 2016

    The doors open wider

Anklets, temple pendants and everyday gold reach families we would never have met from behind one counter.

  4. 2021

    Fifty thousand families

Less a sales figure than fifty thousand people who trusted us with an occasion.

  5. Today

    The same rule

Twenty-five years on, we still quote the making charge before you ask.

Three pairs of hands before it reaches yours

The craft

Three pairs of hands before it reaches yours

A piece is drawn, set and finished by different people, each doing the one thing they have done for thirty years. It is slower than a machine. It is also why the clasp still closes in 2050.

  • DrawnEvery collection is sketched and proofed in metal before a single piece is cast.
  • SetFiligree and stone-setting done by hand, by karigars who have done it for decades.
  • FinishedPolished, weighed and checked — down to the clasp you will open a thousand times.
  • 25+ Years at the counter
  • 50000+ Families served
  • 1200+ Designs drawn by hand
  • 100000+ Pieces delivered

In their words

  • They told me the making charge before I asked. I have bought gold for thirty years and that had never happened.

  • My mother's anklet broke after eleven years. They mended it and would not take money for it.

  • You can feel the weight of it. Nothing about the piece is pretending to be more than it is.
